Daniel Tshanda is the founder of the group. The founding Matshikos included Penwell Kunene and Joseph Tshimange. Their first album, “The Park Is Mine,” was a huge hit both domestically and internationally when it was released in 1991. The band’s following album, “Innocent Man,” was released in 1992 and was followed by “Victory” in 1993.
The original Matshikos were disbanded. Dan Tshanda discovered Dan Mokoena and published “Uzozisola” by Dan Mokoena as a solo artist under the Matshikos moniker. As a solo musician, Joseph Tshimange released the album “Mthizman” in mid-96. This album was directed and produced by Dan Tshanda. Joseph died in sad circumstances shortly after the publication of his record.
