December Streets Bio: December Streets’ foot stomping, skirt lifting, shoulder popping musical ecstasy has been stroking the ears of many since 2009. Tristan Coetzee (vocals and guitar) and Gideon Meyer (bass and sax) joined forces in 2010 with Afro-funk player Nico van Loggerenberg (lead guitar), stick twirling Corneil Clasen (drums), and our very own SA born Satchmo, Waldo Boshoff (trumpet) to form the December Streets as we know them today.
December Streets is combining genres and individuals with its varied rhythms, slick beats, reggae/ska trumpet, symphonic trio of guitars, and a voice to match. Their style varies, but infectious beat-lyric pairings like ‘Fire Through the Window’ and ‘Who Needs Shoes’ are trademarks.
Their EP was recorded at Anti-Motion studios and featured college singles ‘Fire Through the Window’ and ‘Who Needs Shoes,’ both of which achieved number one on TuksFM’s Most Wanted and SA Top 10 lists. ‘My Name’ was played on 5FM, reaching number one on the Rock Chart and peaking at number 16 on the worldwide rankings.
December Streets are still performing at concerts and festivals across the country.
