Big Zulu

Big Zulu needed the success of the hit song “Mali Eningi” to get him ready for the year. He became a powerhouse and unleashed additional jams, including “Inhlupheko,” which featured Mduduzi. He later released one of the year’s biggest albums, “Ichwane Lenyoka,” and fans haven’t been able to get enough of it.

 A-Reece

We couldn’t get away from the Reece Effect this year. Despite being silent, Reece’s movements created a lot of noise. He released the mixtape “Today’s Tragedy, Tomorrow’s Memory” and, most recently, collaborated with Jay Jody on the critically praised album “heavenN caN waiT: thE narroW dooR voL 1.”

Blxckie

Blxckie was included on our list of South African Hip Hop talents to watch this year earlier this year. Fortunately, we were not mistaken about him. He sacrificed everything he had, performed huge collaborations, and released the chart-topping first album “B4Now.” Blxckie completely dominated 2021.

Nasty C

Every year, Nasty C demonstrates why he’s a Zulu Man to watch. He continued to dazzle, releasing singles from his “Z.M.W.S.P” album. He was also included on the soundtrack CD for “Rhythms of Zamunda.” Nasty dominated the year, collaborating with Blxckie, Dax, Audiomarc, and others. He also wowed audiences with the thumping single “Jack.”

Emtee

The Hustla never fails to excite. The importance of Emtee in 2021 cannot be overstated. The Mzansi rapper began the year by releasing tracks. He released “Wave,” “Brand New Day,” “IThemba,” and “Johustleburg” before releasing his highly anticipated album “Logan.” He also appeared on several collaborations with Chad Da Don and others, leaving fans wanting more.

Madumane

It would be a dreadful crime to leave Madumane out of this list. Definitely one of the greatest surprises of the year. Madumane performed a devastating line on DJ Maphorisa’s popular song “Izolo,” which also featured Tyler ICU, Visca, Mpura, and Daliwonga. This year, it became one of the most discussed subjects.

Cassper Nyovest

SA Hip Hop never leaves Cassper Nyovest, no matter what he does or where he travels. Cass concentrated on Amapiano this year, yet he still had a significant effect on the Hip Hop industry. He released “Asbonge” with MajorSteez and then ran alone on “The Pressure.”

25K

This year, 25K put in a lot of effort. “Pheli Makaveli,” the outstanding emcee’s debut album, has graced the airways. The song “Hustler’s Prayer,” featuring A-Reece, preceded the album. Zoocci Coke Dope, Emtee, Flvme, Killa-X, and Maglera Doe Boy all contributed to the album.

AKA

Following the success of last year’s EP, “Bhovamania,” AKA decided to do more this year. The Mzansi rapper survived one of the year’s most devastating blows and emerged stronger. He collaborated with Costa Titch on the project “You’re Welcome.” The single “Super Soft,” which was favorably received, was used to advertise the project.

K.O

K.O stated intentions to release new solo music and label collaborations at the start of the year. He came through. He released the singles “Playback” and “K:Hova,” and he also contributed to Skhandaworld’s album “Welcome To The Planet,” which was well welcomed by South African hip hop enthusiasts.
