Aba Shante Bio: Abashante, 999 music’s first hit making group.Discoverd the King of Kwaito Arthur became a household in the late 90s under the mentorship of Arthur Mafokate.The group was first made of Abba, Queen and Nestum.In 200, Zombo joined the group taking over from Abba who had some disagreements with group owner,Mafokate.

Aba Shanté was a kwaito group formed by Arthur Mafokate of 999 Music, consisting of Iyaya “Queen”, Zanele “Nestum” Njakale, Hazel “Ma-H” Mzolo, and Abel “Aba” Golele.

Their sound included reggae-influenced noises (d’gong) and raggamuffin-inspired toasting/dj’ing by group member Abel “Aba” Golele, who resembled Shabba Ranks.

They had a big success with their debut album “Girls” in 1996, which led to several albums in the following years.

Abel Golege died in a car accident, prompting 999 Music label musician Zombo to join the group.
Zombo died in 2008 as a result of HIV complications.
